Online Education review

I have taken only a few online courses, and my experience with them have been all decent. The instructors were timely with their responses and informative, especially for this course. This class is by far the best online course I have taken so far. If there were more online courses with instructors like Laura, I would take it.

Gen. Ed. Review

My gen. ed experience at OU so far has been decent. I have taken some classes that were fun and interesting, while others were dull and unnecessarily difficult. I am aware that we are required to take gen. ed courses to round out our learning experience, but I wish there were less required hours for them, because they can interfere with major courses.

College Writing Review

My major is Finance, so I will be dealing with numbers most of the time, but it is still beneficial for me to be in writing courses. Writing reports and memos are a big part of the business world, so writing courses help me improve my writing skills to prepare for that aspect of the business world. I have taken some other courses, like business communication and english comp, that are also focused on writing. Although, they were more serious when it came to what to write, so I did not have as fun in those classes as I did with this one.

Extra Reading Diary - Grimm (Crane)

The Fisherman and His Wife: This sends a strong message about how people are never satisfied with what they have. In this story, the fisherman found a prince fish. The wife finds out about this, and orders him to go back and wish for a better house. He does this and the fish grants his wish. But afterwards, the wife wants more and more. Every time the Fisherman comes back to the fish, the sea gets more gross and violent. She eventually becomes the Pope, but that still doesn't satisfy her lust for more. In the end, they end up right back where they were. Poor Fisherman.

Reading Diary B - Italian Fairy Tales

The Language of Animals: A classic story of an unappreciated son and his overreacting father. So there was a kid whom declared that he was able to speak the language of dogs, frogs, and birds. The father was embarrassed by this, so he told two servants to kill him and bring back his heart. So messed up. The servants did not do this though, so the kid was able to flee. His ability to talk to dogs, frogs, and birds helped him make connections with a king, a treasurer, and the Pope. The father ends up regretting what he did, but the son forgives him. I was surprised that the son forgave his father, but that is a good lesson for the story.

Reading Diary A - Italian Fairy Tales

The Man, the Serpent, and the Fox: This was an interesting story. The man saves the snake, but he wants to eat the man, even though he promised the man that he would not. Typical snake character. The snake allows the man to go and find three people to decide if the snake has the right to eat the man or not. The first two sided with the snake, but the last one did something different. The last one was the fox, whom ended up tricking the snake to get back to his original predicament before the man came along. The fox pawns everyone.

Extra Reading Diary - Dante: Inferno

Satan: In Dante's Inferno, Satan is a giant thing with his lower half in ice. The general attributes of Satan that I have seen throughout my life is a demon with red skin and horns. Satan is also always seen as the boss of hell, so reading something that says Satan has three heads and is trapped in ice, is a little different than what I am used to. It is as though Satan himself is trapped in hell too, which makes sense because he betrayed God. Speaking of betrayal, Dante describes an objects in each of the three heads. He soon finds out that those objects are human bodies. Those three men that are being eternally tortured by Satan are the worst traitors according to Roman culture, so it is fitting that Satan and his two heads are chewing them.
